Project Ideas
What can you build?
Got an idea for a viral app? The Nimiq Pay Mini Apps Framework gives you the building blocks that can take most builders months to build from scratch: wallets, payments, and other key features, ready to go. The best part? Your app gets exposure to an existing user base from day one.
Already have an app? Even better. If you've built something that could benefit from integrated payments and wallet functionality, you can bring it into the Nimiq Pay ecosystem with minimal changes. Your Mini App must work. Not a prototype, not a mockup. A finished product that a real person can use on the first try.
The categories below are here to spark ideas, not limit them. If your Mini App doesn't fit neatly into one of these, that's fine. If it's useful and it integrates with Nimiq Pay, we want to see it.
Games
Trivia with prize pools, skill-based arcade, multiplayer tournaments, word games with daily rewards, prediction challenges.
Social
Group savings jars, event planning with shared costs, community challenges, crowdfunding, social tipping.
Earning
Paid surveys, microtasks, learn-to-earn quizzes, bounty boards, referral rewards, watch-to-earn.
Marketplaces
Digital product stores, freelance gig boards, local buy/sell, service directories, ticket resale.
Productivity
Invoicing, expense splitting, time-based billing, project milestone tracking, team payment tools.
Creator & Media
App subscriptions, content unlocks, digital art sales, podcast tipping, newsletter paywalls.
Education
Courses with completion rewards, quiz platforms, tutoring with session pay, certifications, study accountability groups.
Health & Fitness
Workout challenges with stakes, step competitions, habit streaks with rewards, fitness class booking.
Food & Dining
Bill splitting, restaurant loyalty cards, group ordering, meal planning with budgets, recipe sharing with tips.
Shop & Deals
Cashback tools, coupon sharing, gift card purchasing, group buying, reward tracking.
Lifestyle
Event ticketing, appointment booking with deposits, travel budgeting, gift registries, personal finance dashboards.
On-chain services
Staking dashboards, token swaps, name registration, on-chain identity, multisig tools, block explorers.
This list is a starting point. If your idea doesn't appear here, that doesn't mean it doesn't belong.
Integration requirement: Your Mini App must integrate with Nimiq Pay and support at least one of the following: USDT or NIM. Mini Apps that support NIM score under Nimiq Pay and Nimiq integration, those that support neither will be disqualified. Simply displaying a Nimiq logo does not qualify as integration. Your Mini App must use Nimiq wallets, transactions, or payment infrastructure as a core part of the user experience.
Submissions
Your Mini App must be built on the Nimiq Pay Mini Apps Framework
All code must be open-source in a public GitHub repo under the MIT Open Source License
Your Mini App must follow the Nimiq Pay Mini Apps Framework documentation and technical standards
No hardcoded private keys, API secrets, or sensitive credentials in the repo
Your Mini App must integrate with Nimiq Pay and support USDT, NIM, or both
Supporting NIM or the wider Nimiq ecosystem scores under Nimiq Pay and Nimiq integration. Displaying a Nimiq logo alone does not count as integration.
Code must be original or properly attributed when using open-source libraries or frameworks
Your Mini App must be fully functional and usable on the first try
No prototypes or mockups.
Teams can include up to 5 members
One lead is to be designated for comms and payout. Name or pseudonym, GitHub profile link, and Nimiq wallet address for prize payout to be included.
All submissions go public at the start of Week 3 for early access testing
Submissions are made through the submission portal on the Registration Dashboard
Details and deadlines will be communicated through official Nimiq social media channels.
Include a written description of your Mini App (max 250 words)
Cover what it does, who it’s for, and how it uses Nimiq Pay. A demo video or walkthrough is optional but encouraged, and contributes to your storytelling score.
